School Operations and Mass Testing Update (Resume Low Risk Operations/On-Site Learning on Monday, Feb 22)

Good Afternoon Everyone,

After our most recent conversation with BBAHC, the district will be resuming in-person student learning at the low-risk level beginning on Monday, Feb 22.

Next, during the mass testing event recently held at the school after the closure on Feb 3, approximately 350 tests were administered resulting in two positive cases.

We believe this outcome is a huge testament to our community and team’s mitigation strategies and look forward to seeing our students again on Monday.

Sincerely,

Jason

School Closure Update (Extended through Feb 19)

Good Afternoon Everyone,

A short time ago, I met with BBAHC and Public Health to review the current state of the closure. Both entities agree that we should remain at High-Risk for the duration of this week as well as next week.

The intent is to resume in-person instruction on Monday, February 22 (Pending further information).

Please anticipate an update on February 17th or 18th regarding future actions.

COVID-19 Potential Exposure and School Closure

Good Evening DCSD Families,

Please know that the health and safety of our students and entire community are our first
priorities in all that we do, and we will be providing extensive support to each of you during this
time. With that in mind, we want to make you aware that your student may have been exposed to
COVID-19 on or around February 2nd.

We are working closely with BBAHC throughout this time and close contacts will be notified
directly by the Alaska Department of Health and Social Services and/or DCSD, if possible.

To support this safety effort, the buildings are closed to all students beginning Thursday,
February 4th. Virtual school will resume through, on-line only classes, beginning at various time
intervals on Tuesday, February 9th for MS/HS students and prior to or on Wednesday, February
10th for Elementary students. Each school will send out further communication in the upcoming
days. The district will continue to operate under the high-risk operation plan until further notice.

Next, to support our families, students and staff, BBAHC will conduct a mass testing event on
Sunday, February 7th from 10:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M in the MS/HS Gymnasium. If your family
chooses to participate, BBAHC has asked that your students attend in the times/grade slots below
(Families with students in multiple grades may attend when it works best for them.):

10:00 A.M. – K through 3,
11:00 A.M. – 4 and 5,
12:00 Noon – MS, and
1:00 P.M. – HS

We will continue to share additional information as quickly as we are able to and will continue
operating with student and staff safety in mind.

Sincerely,
Jason Johnson, Ed.D.
Superintendent
Dillingham City School District
